Butler Commons is power shopping center located on New Castle Road (SR 356) in Butler, Pennsylvania. Opened in 2002, it is anchored by Walmart Supercenter and Target. Additional tenants include Chili's, First National Bank, Aldi, Dollar General, Panera Bread, Rent-A-Center, Famous Footwear, AT&T, Hallmark, Mattress Discounters and Butler Memorial Hospital. The center is located directly across from Veteran's Memorial Hospital that serves a five-county area and over 18,000 veterans per year.
Cedarwood Development put the deal together and is responsible for leasing. Cedarwood Architectural created the design. And Tri-C Construction built this project.
The design was driven by the Owner’s goals of: complementing the design to the adjacent Butler Crossing shopping center; cost-efficient construction; and building during the winter months. A structural steel perimeter frame was chosen to allow for speedy erection during the cold weather. The exterior skin was made of metal stud framing with a mixture of brick-look concrete masonry units and EIFS on the visible elevations with a metal stud / metal wall panel system at the rear. Metal accent awnings and the color of the masonry tied into the existing Butler Commons complex.
